Fidgets that make a crunching sound when squeezed are mostly a combination of slime filling and various shaped plastic flakes, which rub together when squeezed to create a crunching sound.

Normally, products with slime filling (made from glue) will naturally release air. If you use it and find air inside, this is normal for this type of product.
